In 2014 India played 48 one day international (ODI). The winning % in 1st 20 ODI was 40. The winning % in next 10 ODI was 80 and the winning % was 50 in the remaining ODI’s of 2014. What was the (approx) overall winning % of India in ODI’s in 2014?
Correct Answer: Option D
Since winning % in 1st 20 ODI was 40, hence number of matches won out of 20 matches = 0.4 × 20 = 8 matches
Number of matches won out of next 10 ODI = 0.80 × 10 = 8 matches
So the remaining ODI = 48 – (20 + 10) = 18 ODI
Since winning % was 50 in the remaining ODI’s so the number of ODI won out of last 18 ODI = 0.50 × 18 = 9 matches
So the total number of matches won by India = 8 + 8 + 9 = 25 matches
So the required % = (25/48) × 100 = 52.08%
